Law on seas and islands informed to Da Nang fishermen
On Friday, the High Command of the Viet Nam Coast Guard Region 2 coordinated with the Da Nang Party Committee's Mass Mobilisation Commission to publicise Vietnamese Law Day 2023 (November 9), and give the national flags and gifts to fishermen in difficult circumstances in Thanh Khe District.

During the event, officials, fishermen, and trade union members were informed about how to determine internal waters, baselines, territorial waters, contiguous zones, exclusive economic zones, and continental shelves according to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
They also were updated with the current security and safety situation of the country's seas and islands; basic contents of Viet Nam's Law of the Sea; Viet Nam Coast Guard Law; and legal framework reforms to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in Viet Nam's fisheries.
The activity was part of the coordinated programme "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen". The intention is to help people and fishermen develop economically, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, strengthen military-civilian solidarity, and enhance patriotism, love for the sea and islands of the homeland, This, thereby, helps raise awareness and civic responsibility for the cause of building and protecting the sovereignty, security, and safety of the homeland's seas and islands.
To mark this occasion, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command presented the national flags and 50 gifts, worth VND1 million each, to social policy families and fishermen in difficult circumstances in the district.
