In their efforts to promote the study and implementation of Uncle Ho's teachings, grassroots Youth Union organizations in Da Nang have been active in launching many meaningful programs, thereby contributing to driving their local socio-economic development, and promoting the development of Youth Union movements.

In 2023, the Youth Union organization of the Yen Ne 1 Village, Hoa Tien Commune, Hoa Vang District, was honored with the title of ‘Outstanding Youth Union organization following Uncle Ho's teachings' by the municipal Youth Union.

This recognition was earned through their active participation in community volunteer programs, particularly the "Battery House" model.

Previously, local residents had thrown their used batteries in the rubbish bins, leading to environmental and health hazards. To address this problem, the Youth Union organization of the Yen Ne 1 Village set up small houses called "Battery Houses" in alleys for collecting used batteries. When these house are full of used batteries, these materials will be transported to recycling and treatment facilities, and will be then exchanged for gift items like small flower pots or ornamental plants to give them as rewards to outstanding youth union members.

Mr. Nguyen Chan Vien, the Secretary of the Yen Ne 1 Village’s Youth Union organization said that the 11- member organization earned local residents’ love and praise for their active engagement in volunteer activities.

Currently, focus is on ensuring the effective implementation of  the youth project called "Green Road" along the road in front of the Yen Ne Traditional Market. Every week, young villagers participate in cleanup operations, trimming the grass, and caring for the flowers and plants along the road.

Since 2022, the "Digital Library" youth project initiated by the village’s youth union organization has made it easier for its members and young people to access books and study materials, contributing to developing a reading culture in local communities.

Additionally, the organization's digital transformation team regularly assists the villagers, especially seniors, to use online public services on their smartphones. Notably, heed is paid to holding monthly thematic meetings called ‘Reading about Uncle Ho’ and ‘Studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle’. In these meetings, the participants listen to and tell moving stories about Uncle Ho in a bid to cultivate a more positive attitude towards life in the village.

In a similar move, the Quang Thanh 4A6’s Youth Union organization in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District was honored with the title of ‘Outstanding Youth Union organization  following Uncle Ho's teachings’ in 2023 by the municipal Youth Union. 

One of the organization's notable activities is to ensure environmental cleanliness in its area. Twice a month, the youth union members participate in cleanup campaigns, removing illegal advertising and classified boards on Bui Chat, Lac Long Quan, Nguyen Luong Bang streets, and in small alleys.

Additionally, the organization has created waste sorting bins which are placed in alleys for garbage collection, reducing the indiscriminate refuse disposal. Recyclables collected from households will be sold to a buy-back centre or recycling branch for cash to fund volunteer activities and give gifts to social policy families, poor students, and disadvantaged young people. Notably, an swimming club is open to teenagers and young adults to provide them with water safety skills in a bid to prevent drowning accidents.

In 2023, 26 youth union organizations and 21 individuals were honored with the titles of ‘outstanding originations and individuals following Uncle Ho's teachings’ by the municipal Youth Union for their dedication and commitment to local communities.

In the coming time, the Da Nang Youth will intensify efforts in promoting the study and implementation of Uncle Ho's teachings among members of grassroots youth union organizations. Focus will be on launching such programmes as ‘Reading about Uncle Ho’, ‘Studying and following of President Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle’, as well as setting up a library titled “Youth Studying and Following Uncle Ho's Teachings.”
