Permanent Vice Chairman in charge of the Da Nang People's Council Tran Phuoc Son hosted a reception on Wednesday for a group of visitors from People's Council of Champasak Province in Laos, led by its Chairman Saithong Xayavong.

Briefing his Lao guests on the city’s socio-economic situation, Vice Chairman Son focused on guidelines and strategic orientations for the city development to 2030 with a vision to 2045, as well as the organizational structure and operations of the municipal People's Council.

Recently, the municipal People's Council rolled out 19 supervision projects and organised 5 programmes "Da Nang People's Council with voters" which paid attention to discussing and questioning issues of top concerns among voters, he added.

Mr. Son also informed his guests about the city’s positive results after more than three years of piloting the urban government model according to Resolution No. 119/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly.

He also emphasised that, on the basis of the special friendly and cooperative relationship between the two Parties, the two States and the people of Viet Nam and Laos, Da Nang always laid an emphasis on fostering a close cooperative relationship with south-central provinces of Laos, including Champasak Province.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Da Nang and Champasak Province for the 2023-2027 period, in 2024, the city continues to grant scholarships for 20 provincial officials and students to study in the locality; send two teachers to teach Vietnamese at the Vietnamese Language Center of Champasak Province; and start the construction of the Vietnamese Language Center of Champasak Province.

In addition, the city plans to organise a series of programmes to introduce, connect and promote investment, trade, tourism and export activities for businesses in Da Nang, and south-central provinces of Laos, including Champasak Province.

For his part, Chairman of Champasak Provincial People's Council Saithong Xayavong highly appreciated Da Nang for its effective cooperation and strong support for his locality in all fields over the past years.

He also took the opportunity to thank the city for sharing valuable experiences involving their councils’ works. He voiced his hope that the two sides will continue exchanging experience and discussing legal regulations involving their councils’ works, especially supervision activities.
