Centre for International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services makes debut in Da Nang

The Centre for International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services (CIFA) was officially launched in Da Nang on Friday.

Attending the launching ceremony were Acting Director of the Service Department for Diplomatic Corps under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ngo Phuong Nghi, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong, and representatives of leaders of departments, agencies and Consulates General in the city.

Also at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Hieu, Director of the Centre for Foreign Affairs Services, was appointed Director of CIFA.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong said that the municipal People's Committee recently issued Decision No. 646/QD-UBND on merging the Centre for International Cooperation Development into the Centre for Foreign Affairs Services which was then renamed the Centre for International Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Services.

He took the opportunity to ask CIFA to continue to promote its strengths, as well as successfully complete the task of managing Vietnamese workers working for foreign organisations, and foreign individuals, in the Central and Central Highlands region.

He also directed CIFA to concentrate on implementing well the State management work in the field of foreign affairs in the city, contributing to improving the effectiveness of foreign affairs activities to connect Da Nang with the world.

Speaking at the ceremony to accept his new job, Director of CIFA Tran Hieu pledged that the centre will strive to well fulfill the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-assigned tasks related to Vietnamese workers working for foreign organisations, and foreign individuals, in the Central and Central Highlands region.

Additionally, the centre will further promote economic diplomacy activities, effectively implement international cooperation agreements between Da Nang and foreign localities, and support State management in foreign affairs activities and international events in the city.

On the occasion, CIFA signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Da Nang, the Sporting Insights Asia Company, and the PAX IND Company Limited on organising international events and calling on investment from international businesses to Da Nang.
