PNLG promotes sustainable development in East Asian Seas
Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Quang Nam, who is Chairman of PEMSEA Network of Local Governments for Sustainable Coastal Development (PNLG) in the 2022 - 2025 term, chaired the 15th session of the Executive Committee of the PEMSEA Network of PNLG via video conference on Wednesday.

During the online event, discussions focused on the PNLG Annual Forum 2024 which is scheduled to take place from November 5 - 9, 2024 in Xiamen City, China, as well as the development orientation of the network in the coming time, in order to promote the development of the network and lay the foundation for the East Asian region to better manage the seas in the future.
PNLG Chairman Nam emphasised that since its official establishment in 2006, PNLG has strived to promote experience exchange and practical cooperation among members in integrated coastal management, strengthening the role of local governments, and promoting sustainable marine development in the Seas of East Asia.
He remarked that the forthcoming PNLG Annual Forum 2024 in China will provide the good opportunity for members to further promote PNLG and enhance the influence of PNLG in the East Asian Seas.
He voiced his hope that with the joint efforts of all localities, especially members of the network, PNLG will fully promote its role to contribute to achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goals at local government level.
Also at the event, leaders of the PNLG Secretariat, the PEMSEA Resource Fund’s Executive Board and PNLG members discussed the results of activities in 2023 and the first half of 2024.
Moreover, the preparations for some upcoming programmes were included in discussions, such as the PNLG Annual Forum 2024 themed “Blue Synergy for a Shared Future: One Sustainable and Resilient Ocean”, the opening ceremony of the East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2024, and the World Ocean Week in Xiamen City, China, in November 2024.
