Da Nang and the Japanese university have carried out many exchange and cooperation activities for more than 10 years.

In 2013, the Japanese university and the city launched an internship programme and in 2027, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a focus on international student exchange.

Between 2018 and 2020, the Nagasaki Prefectural University, together with the authorities of Goto City and Nagasaki Prefecture, promoted the establishment of the GOTO Japanese Language School to teach Japanese language to Vietnamese students with priority tuition.

Currently, the school's first 16 students have graduated and are qualified for higher training programmes in Japan.

Since 2022, with professional support, the Nagasaki Prefectural University has organised short-term knowledge training courses on nutrition and school health for managers and supporting staff at kindergartens and primary schools in the city. Besides, the Japanese university has actively participated in the Viet Nam - Japan Festival in the city.

Vice Chairwoman Thi also informed the Japanese delegation about some key features of the city's socio-economic, education and training, and healthcare development in the first half of 2024.

She expressed her hope that the Japanese university will continue to coordinate and support the city's authorities in the fields of education, training and healthcare in the time to come.

For her part, Mrs. Satomi Iwashige thanked the Da Nang government for offering the best facilitation to the university’s officials and students to conduct internships at the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, and related agencies and units.

She was committed to coordinating and implementing many exchange and cooperation programmes between Da Nang and Japanese students, as well as implementing educational projects in the city in the years ahead.
