A delegation of Da Nang’s officials, led by Standing Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Ho Ky Minh, had a meeting with leaders of the US Qorvo Company in Ha Noi on Wednesday.

During the working session, Vice Chairman Minh informed Qorvo leaders about some outstanding achievements the city gained in the first 6 months of 2024, especially its efforts in preparing suitable conditions for the development of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) fields.

Most recently, the National Assembly passed and issued Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 on the organisation of urban government and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Da Nang, including preferential policies to encourage investment and development in the semiconductor and AI fields.

Along with the establishment of the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training (DSAC) on January 26, 2024, the city is forming an alliance for training high-quality human resources with prestigious universities in and outside the city in order to prepare the human resources for semiconductor and AI companies in the time to come. At the same time, the city is focusing on developing infrastructure to attract investment in the fields, Mr. Minh noted.

A representative of the Qorvo Company briefed the Da Nang visitors on the latest technology research and development results, plus the company's prospects for expanding business and investment in Viet Nam. Qorvo leaders highly appreciated the potential and dynamism of the Da Nang government and will consider coming to the city to seek investment opportunities in the near future.

In the spirit of cooperation and mutual support, the two sides shared specific information to set up Qorvo's semiconductor chip research and design office in Da Nang as well as exchanged orientations for developing chip design human resources in the coming time.

Qorvo is a leading global supplier of semiconductor chips for power and connectivity solutions, including consumer electronics, smart homes, automotive, electric vehicles, battery-powered devices, network infrastructure, and healthcare.

According to the Global Semiconductor Association (GSA), Qorvo is the world's most influential semiconductor company in 2020. The company employs over 8,500 people worldwide, with revenues reaching US$3.77 billion in the fiscal year 2024 (April 2023 - March 2024).
