Congratulating the Japanese ambassador on starting his tenure in Viet Nam, Secretary Quang emphasised that Da Nang always valued the friendship with Japan and the effective investment of Japanese businesses in the city.

He informed that Japan is now Da Nang's largest investor with a total registered investment capital of more than US$1 billion. The majority of the Japanese-invested projects involved electronics, information technology, and real estate associated with resort tourism.

A typical example was Mikazuki Group which is considered the most successful group in the field of real estate associated with resort tourism. This showed that Japanese businesses invested very effectively and the city always created favourable conditions for businesses to invest and develop, he added.

He pointed out that the common success was attributed to the great efforts made by Japanese diplomatic agencies, including the Japanese Consulate General in the city, in connecting and introducing more Japanese businesses and investors to invest in the city, in recent years.

Recently, the National Assembly of Viet Nam passed a Resolution on urban government organisation and piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies to develop Da Nang. These include a number of specific mechanisms and policies on investment in semiconductor chip development, artificial intelligence, information and communication, and science and technology management, and innovation.

The city Party chief affirmed that the city will always create the most favourable investment environment for Japanese businesses to invest in the fields of microchips, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and Lien Chieu Port.

According to Mr. Quang, the annual Viet Nam - Japan Festival is a good opportunity for the two countries to conduct people-to-people and cultural exchange activities. The city leader, therefore, voiced his hope that through the festival, the friendly relationship and people-to-people exchange between Viet Nam and Japan in general, and Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular, will be further strengthened, thereby promoting the economic cooperation of the two countries.

For his part, Ambassador Ito Naoki expressed his impression on the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the Viet Nam - Japan Festival in 2024 in Da Nang.

He revealed that a large Japanese corporation specialising in semiconductor technology intended to look for investment opportunities in Da Nang, whilst another corporation, with much experience in building high-quality infrastructure, was interested in the Lien Chieu Port.

The Japanese diplomat hoped that Da Nang leaders will continue to facilitate these Japanese businesses to invest and operate in Da Nang, especially in the fields of information technology and high technology.

He expressed his belief that the relationship with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, will continue to develop strongly and well in the coming time.
