Da Nang wants to intensify cooperation with Japanese, Korean cities

Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi had meetings with delegations from Japan’s Sakai City and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Naju City on Friday.

Welcoming the delegations, Vice Chairwoman Thi informed them about the city’s socio-economic development situation, and aspects that the city is appealing for investment.

She took the opportunity to call on Sakai City to soon implement the Carbon Neutral Port (CNP) project, and promote the opening of direct flights between Da Nang and Sakai.

Meanwhile, she also asked for support from Naju City to appeal for more businesses and investors from the locality to invest in Da Nang in the fields of electricity, electronics, and hi-tech.

In reply, Deputy Mayor of Sakai City Motoya Kazuhiro expressed his impression on Da Nang's rapid growth.

He said Sakai and Da Nang had many similarities. In particular, both shared the vision of building carbon-neutral and zero-emission cities by 2050.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will continue cooperating fruitfully in various aspects, as well as organize cultural and educational exchange activities in the coming time, thereby contributing to deepening the friendly relationship between Japan and Viet Nam in general, and between Sakai and Da Nang in particular.

Vice Chairman of the Naju Council Kim Kwan Yong noted that both localities have been working to develop smart and ecological cities.

He voiced his expectation that the two cities will promote cooperation in potential fields, contributing to their economic development.
