Wishing the new Japanese ambassador a successful term, Chairman Chinh expressed his hope that the diplomat will make practical contributions to the further development of bilateral ties with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

He took the opportunity to ask for help from Mr. Ito Naoki to connect and call on more Japanese firms to visit Da Nang in order to seek investment opportunities in such spheres as hi-tech, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The municipal government is committed to creating an effective and safe investment environment for foreign investors, including those from Japan, to do business in the city, Mr. Chinh noted.

The city leader also underscored the importance of the ongoing Viet Nam - Japan Festival in Da Nang from July 4 - 7 in promoting the friendly and cooperative relationship between Viet Nam and Japan in general, and between Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular.

In reply, the Japanese diplomat thanked the city leaders for the respectful welcome, and creating favourable conditions for the organisation of the Viet Nam - Japan Festival 2024.

He revealed that lots of Japanese businesses showed their keen interest in investing in Da Nang’s aspects of hi-tech, microchips, semiconductors and AI.

In particular, Rorze Corporation, a large Japanese corporation specialising in semiconductor technology, plans to look for investment opportunities in the central coastal city, he added.

In addition, other Japanese enterprises, including Sumitomo Group, want to invest in the Lien Chieu Port project. Sumitomo Group is one of Japan's largest corporations, with much experience in building high-quality infrastructure.

Mr. Ito Naoki voiced his hope that the municipal authorities will continue to offer the best possible facilitation to Japanese businesses to do business in the city. He believed that the relationships with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, will be further deepened and tightened.
