During his reception on Thursday for Mayor of Japan’s Niihama City Ishikawa Katsuyuki, Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Ho Ky Minh briefed his guest on the city’s socio-economic development situation, and its potential and strengths.

He stated that Da Nang and Niihama shared many similarities because they boasted attractive tourist destinations and a rich diversity of festivals throughout the year, attracting a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.

Vice Chairman Minh proposed that the two cities promote cooperation in tourism, services, semiconductor technology, information technology, and hi-tech industry in the coming time.

For his part, the Japanese diplomat Ishikawa Katsuyuki said that Niihama was one of the leading industrial cities in Japan, where subsidiaries of the Sumitomo Group were headquartered. In addition, Niihama’s tourism industry has flourished over the years, and the Japanese locality is famous for the Taiko Festival held every October.

Mayor Ishikawa Katsuyuki expressed his desire to cooperate with Da Nang in exchanging high-quality human resources in the industrial sector in the years ahead.

He also voiced his hope that there will be many effective cooperation programmes between the two cities in the near future, contributing to further strengthening the friendly relationship between Japan and Viet Nam.
