Promoting local cultures
On Wednesday, the Da Nang Party Committee reviewed the city’s implementation of the Central Party Committee’s 5th Session Resolution concerning “Building and Developing Advanced Vietnamese Culture Imbued with National Identities” over the past 15 years.
The Head of the Committee’s Publicity and Training Department, Mr Vo Cong Tri, said that during the review period Da Nang has attached importance to encouraging local residents to enhance their political ideology, knowledge and ethical standards as well as building a healthy and clean environment and a civilised urban lifestyle.

Local authorities have also done their utmost to reach the targets of no starving households, no illiterate people, no itinerant beggars, no drug-addicts in the community, and no murders for property in the city. They have also strived to ensure that all local residents have their own houses, stable jobs and a cultural lifestyle, as well as to make Da Nang an environmentally-friendly city. The city’s socio-economic breakthroughs prove that the city leaders are people who dare to think, do, and take a sense of responsibility.
In addition, special attention has been given to preserving and promoting the value of local cultural heritage. By late 2012, 16 local relic sites had been recognised as national protected areas, whilst 42 others had been listed in the city’s protected areas. Furthermore, local museums have left a good impression on both domestic and foreign tourists and they have attracted an increasing number of visitors.
The Committee Deputy Secretary, Mr Tran Tho, stressed the need for local relevant agencies and departments to develop local cultural values, fight against wastefulness and expedite the construction of large-scale cutural works to satisfy the local people’s demand for enhancing their spiritual life.
