One hundred and seventeen of the best entries to the 7th National Press Awards 2012 will be honoured at a ceremony in Ha Noi on  21 June to mark the 88th anniversary of Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day.

The contest’s organisers announced at a meeting on June 2 that the event will be broadcast live on Viet Nam Television and Voice of Viet Nam radio.

The top 117 works, including five ‘A’, 28 ‘B’ and 45 ‘C’ award winners, as well as 39 consolation prizes, were selected from 160 final entries.

The prize winning works reflect Viet Nam’s socio-economic and cultural development, as well as its national politics and security. They also highlight exemplary role models who have helped reduce poverty in remote areas, promote national construction and defence, overcome natural disasters and fight against corruption.
