The Municipal Press Awards 2012 presentation ceremony took place at the Da Nang Radio and Television Station yesterday evening to celebrate the 88th anniversary of Viet Nam’s Revolutionary Press Day (21 June).

Speaking at the event, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, extended his congratulations to the local reporters on this occasion.  He also praised the local press agencies for their efforts in providing timely information to domestic and foreign readers about the city’s guidelines and its long-term development strategies.  Vice Chairman Viet said he hoped that the reporters will continue their efforts to help the city progress.

In addition to the city’s rapid growth, the past 15 years have witnessed both an increase in the number of reporters and an improvement in the quality of their articles.

About 30,000 news items, articles and photographs from the 400 Da Nang Journalists’ Association members are published every year.  Most of them reflect accurate information, and any pressing issues for the city have been checked and dealt with appropriately by the relevant agencies.
