On Tuesday, the Head of the Surgery Department of Da Nang’s Tam Tri private general hospital, Dr Tran Thien Nhan, said that his hospital’s surgeons have successfully performed a single burr hole endoscopic surgery to remove the vermiform appendix of 35-year-old Huynh Thi To Chau from Cam Le District’s Hoa Tho Dong Ward.

Ms Chau had been admitted to the hospital due to inflammation of the appendix and lower abdominal pain.  She is now gradually recovering after the 30-minute endoscopic surgery, and she was released from hospital after just a day of in-patient treatment.

Dr Nhan added that the application of the single burr hole approach relieves pain, minimises organ exposure in the body cavities during surgery, ensures aesthetics, and reduces the cost of treatment.
