A fierce blaze at a materials warehouse in Ngu Hanh Son District broke out at about 11.30am on Tuesday.   The warehouse, belonging to the Da Nang branch of the Detech Ha Noi Company, was being used to store more than 40 litres of hydrochloric acid and chlorinated flour.

Some witnesses said that they had tried to put out the fire with extinguishers, but then had called the city’s 114 Fire Fighting and Prevention Centre because smoke was billowing from the burning warehouse.

Soon after, 6 fire engines with over 50 firefighters began the battle to take control of the fire.  8 firefighters were choked and fainted due to the heat of the fire and the toxic fumes.

Thanks to the great efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was completely extinguished within 30 minutes, but the whole tin-roofed factory, and the items stored in it, were completely destroyed.

It was thought that a grass fire near the warehouse had caused the incident.
