The Director of the Da Nang Preventive Medicine Centre, Dr Ton That Thanh, recently said that the injection of newborns with the hepatitis B vaccine has been temporarily suspended in the city from 22 July.  He remarked that the suspension was a safety precaution after the deaths of three newborns last Saturday at the Huong Hoa General Hospital in Quang Tri Province.  All had recently been given the vaccination.

The suspension will remain in place until the official conclusion about the cause of the three deaths is announced by the Ministry of Health.
