A project was recently launched in the city to study building up community-based climate change adaptations for Da Nang’s lowest-income residential areas in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward.  It is part of the “Environmentally and Climate-friendly Urban Development in Da Nang” (ECUD) project which has been jointly implemented by the municipal People’s Committee and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).

The authorities in Lien Chieu District and local relevant departments and agencies will become involved in this study.  The purposes are to raise awareness among local residents about climate change as well as to implement measures to cope with storms and floods, facilitate access to flexible loans for locals to upgrade their houses, and to increase their incomes.
