Foreign special friends of local AO-affected children
The Da Nang Association for Agent Orange (AO) Victims has over 1,700 members, and 50 of them are foreign honorary members. These foreign members are getting involved in helping local AO victims and their families, as well as calling for more support from individuals and organisations worldwide to give them a helping hand.
Mr Chuck Palazzo, a US war veteran, is a typical example. Over the past 40 years, he has always expressed his concern about the effects of wars on the Vietnamese people, even though he participated in the war in Viet Nam for 13 months. He therefore decided to give up his good job in New York and Florida to come to live in Da Nang in order to help relieve the pain of local AO victims.

Mr Palazza was deeply touched by some images of a 20-year-old boy with a bent body, a deformed face and silly smiles. As a result, he told himself that he had to do as much as possible to help the victims and their families.
In particular, he gave breeding cows and pigs to the families of local AO victims, hoping that his donations would help to improve their living conditions.
In addition, he also called for more US war veterans and overseas Vietnamese to help the local victims. Mr Palazza has become a special and close friend of local AO-affected children, and even a member of their families.
