Local Youth Union members actively participate in volunteer activities in Laos
Between 18 and 23 July, 70 volunteers from Da Nang’s Youth Union went to the villages of Dan and Kongtadun in Sekong Province, Laos, to do voluntary work. They were all young doctors, government officials and employees or teachers and university students, and their work left a deep impression on their Laotian friends.
During their stay in Sekong Province, the local volunteers gave gifts which included monosodium glutamate, cooking oil and fish sauce to the Lao villagers. They also provided free medical examinations and medicines for them.

In addition, they participated in numerous cultural and sports exchange activities with the local Youth Union members, such as playing football, singing and dancing.
Dr Nguyen Thi Tra Loc from the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital said that she was very proud to represent the local Youth Union members doing their voluntary work in Laos.
The Deputy Secretary of the city’s Youth Union, Mr Tran Vu Duy Man, said that the trip had given the local young people the opportunity to learn more about the land and people of Laos. He added that it also helped raise their awareness about strengthening the bilateral traditional relationships between Da Nang and Laos.
The volunteer work also made a significant contribution to tightening the solidarity and friendship between Da Nang and Sekong Province. Most notably, a Laotian patient who had been given useful advice from the young doctors decided to come to the Da Nang General Hospital for further treatment.
