Mangkhut weakens into LPA
Published: August 08, 2013
Tropical storm Mangkhut weakened into a low-pressure area yesterday evening after producing heavy rainfall and ravaging parts of the Tonkin Gulf, and the north-eastern coastal provinces such as Thanh Hoa and Nghe An.
This morning, 8 August, the low pressure’s centre should be positioned in the Viet Nam-Laos border area, at latitude 20°6’’N and longitude 104°3’E.
Due to the effects of the storm, those provinces are expected to see moderate to heavy showers, which may cause flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
The coastal areas from Quang Ninh to Thanh Hoa provinces should be cautious about rising-sea levels in combination with a high tide of up to 4m.
