Monitoring systems to be installed in local taxis
During his meeting with representatives from Da Nang’s taxi companies, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, stressed the need for them to raise awareness among their taxi drivers of traffic safety and improving the quality of their customer service.
Vice Chairman Tuan also asked the city’s Department of Transport to conduct research into building priority taxi passenger pick-up and drop-off points.
According to the city’s guidelines, monitoring systems will be installed in taxis to enhance the management efficiency of local taxi companies and to monitor traffic safety in their taxis. The installation work is expected to be completed by late June 2014. The Mai Linh Taxi Company pledged that 358 of the company’s taxis would be installed with this system during next month.
The Department of Transport was also asked to work closely with local equipment and service providers to reduce the installation costs for local taxi companies.
Da Nang now has 6 taxi companies and cooperatives, with a total of 1,040 taxis.
