In an effort to ensure that the new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will operate more effectively, the Da Nang authorities have approved the widening to 39m of both the ring road on the southern side of the city and the extended Nguyen Tat Thanh Street.  As a result, Da Nang will develop a more than 17km-long bus rapid transit route.

As a part of the city’s Sustainable Development and Priority Infrastructure Investment projects, the works will cost about 2,137 billion VND which will come from World Bank loans.

In particular, the nearly 4km-long, 2-lane extended Nguyen Tat Thanh Street will link Highway 1A to the bypass at the southern end of the Hai Van Pass.  The street will connect with the nearby dedicated IT Park, and there will be a tunnel between them.

The ring road includes the road through the Hoa Phuoc and Hoa Khuong communes, and Ngu Hanh Son District’s Tran Dai Nghia Street - the route of Highway 1A.  The 5.1km-long Tran Dai Nghia Street project is under construction, and the work is expected to be completed in late 2013.
