Thuan Phuoc Bridge reopens to traffic
Published: August 15, 2013
The Thuan Phuoc Suspension Bridge reopened to traffic on Wednesday after a temporary closure for repairs.
The bridge’s road surface, a melted asphalt layer, was deteriorating badly and has now been replaced with a layer of Epoxy asphalt plus PMB3 glass fibre-reinforced polymer concrete. More steel ties were also added to the surface in order to increase the adhesion between the asphalt and the bridge itself.
Marking the road lines on the surface is currently taking place, and this work is expected to be completed on Friday.
Originally the repair work was due to be finished by 30 July, but the completion date was extended to 14 August due to the recent bad weather.
