Tropical storm affecting central region
Tropical storm Jebi, the 5th to enter the East Sea so far this year, is forecast to become stronger and to lash the north-eastern coastal provinces of Viet Nam.
At 10am on 2 August, the storm’s position was at latitude 18°3’N and longitude 111°5’E, with a wind speed of up to 102kph near its centre.
In the next 24 to 48 hours, it is expected to change course and move in a westerly or north-westerly direction at a speed of about 20kph.

At 10am tomorrow, 3 August, the storm’s centre should be positioned in the waters of the Tonkin Gulf at latitude 20°6’N and longitude 107°5’E, about 70km off the northeast coastline.
Due to the impact of the storm, the provinces in the central region will see scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoons and at night. At present, there are 854 fishermen on 103 fishing vessels out at sea.
