Over 2.2 billion VND raised for social welfare programme
The Da Nang Fatherland Front and the city’s Buddhist Sangha committees held a ceremony in the city on Sunday evening to launch a programme entitled “Da Nang Buddhist followers Get Involved in Social Welfare Activities”.
At the ceremony, the local Buddhist Sangha Committee received cash donations totalling over 2.2 billion VND, and this was given to the municipal Fatherland Front to help fund local social welfare programmes. Also at the event, 50 local children who are disabled, AO-affected or orphaned received gifts from the benefactors.
On this occasion, 7 groups received Certificates of Merit from the municipal Fatherland Front Committee for their active contributions to local social welfare programmes over recent years.
Over the past 15 years, the Fatherland Front and its members have raised about 1,200 billion VND for local social welfare activities. Of this, over 100 billion VND has been contributed by local Buddhist monks, nuns and followers.
