Some representatives from Japan’s Kobe International Exchange Centre visited the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital from 21 – 23 October.  The purpose of the visit was to assess the implementation and effectiveness of a Kobe-funded project for systematically training nurses and midwives over the 2012 – 2014 period.

The visitors praised the hospital’s trainees for their keen interest in learning, and their sense of responsibility for finishing their training.

To date, 22 nurses and midwives from the hospital have been to Japan to take a professional training course, and the knowledge and skills which they gained have been cascaded down to another 150 staff at the hospital.

In December, 6 more trained nurses and midwives from the project will finish their course in Japan and return to the hospital.
