The Da Nang Customs Department said on Tuesday that a fine of 30 million VND had been imposed on 31-year-old Li Ye from China for bringing in 257 folded maps, each with an incorrect map of Viet Nam printed on it. They were found whilst customs officers at the city’s international airport were handling the entry procedures for Ms Li Ye, who was a tour guide for a group of tourists from China. She had arrived in the city on the evening of 23 October on flight CZ3037 from China’s Guangzhou.
All the seized maps showed a map of Viet Nam without the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, which are integral parts of our national territory. They will be destroyed in accordance with the city’s regulations.
