During his meeting on Wednesday with the Management Board of the Da Nang Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects, the Head of the Economics and Budget Board of the municipal People’s Council, Mr Mai Duc Loc, praised the Board for its efforts in identifying the main reasons for the flooding problems in the city.

He also took the opportunity to urge local relevant agencies to report the effectiveness of the city’s existing drainage systems as soon as possible.

Mr Loc added that top priority should be given to assessing the efficiency of investments in the local drainage systems, and the quality of their construction.  There should also be development of effective management methods for their operation and to fully exploit the capacity of the local drainage system.

Currently, there are 11 drainage schemes and projects under the management of the city’s Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects.  Six of them have been already completed and put into use, whilst the remainder are under consideration to be deployed depending on the city’s programme to deal with flooding problems.  The costs of constructing these projects will come from the city’s Sustainable Development Project.
