Over 8.5 billion VND raised for charity
Between January and September, the Da Nang Association for Supporting Poor and Disadvantaged Women and Children raised over 8.5 billion VND from generous donors. Of this figure, more than 3.9 billion VND went into the fund for the construction of the city’s new Cancer Hospital.
After 9 months of operation, the hospital has provided free medical examinations and treatment, worth over 636 million VND, to 846 poor patients. In addition, it has given 118,750 free portions of rice soup (chao) to poor patients at a cost of over 900 million VND, and provided free accommodation for 660 relatives.
Also over the past 9 months, the Women’s Hospital, under the management of the association, has provided free medical treatment for 648 poor women which is valued at 726 million VND.
During the same period, the association raised 1.9 billion VND to fund surgeries for local children with congenital heart complaints, and donated around 1.2 billion VND to the local Village of Hope. Another focus was on providing an early breast and cervical cancer detection programme for 600 local poor women.
