Storm Krosa to enter East Sea
Storm Krosa, with gale-force winds of up to 102kph near its centre, is heading towards Luzon Island in the Philippines and is forecast to enter the East Sea on 1 November.
At 1pm today, the storm’s position was at latitude 16°8’N and longitude 128°4’E, about 670km east of the island.
Over the next 24 hours, it is expected to move in a westerly or north-westerly direction at a speed of about 25kph.

By 1pm tomorrow, 31 October, the storm should be positioned at latitude 17°8’N and longitude 123°2’E, about 120km east of Luzon Island. It is predicted to carry wind speeds of between 89 and 117kph.
By 1pm on 1 November, its position should be at latitude 18°5’N and longitude 118°E, about 670km east-northeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago.
The Hong Kong Observatory and the Japan Meteorological Agency forecast that the storm could strengthen after entering the East Sea and lash the central region.
Due to the effects of the storm, from tomorrow evening, the eastern parts of the East Sea will experience strong winds at level 8/9 and rough seas.
