Storm Nari ravages Hoa Vang District

The powerful Storm Nari hit the Da Nang area early Tuesday morning, causing severe damage to many homes, power lines, and trees.  In particular, in Hoa Vang District, thousands of trees were damaged, hundreds of hectares of vegetables were waterlogged, and many villages were cut off by floodwater.

Already the villages of Thach Nham Tay, Tuy Loan, Yen Ne 2 are flooded, and the district is facing more problems as water levels in the Tuy Loan River rise.  As a precaution, many local families from the low-lying areas have been evacuated to safe shelters.

In Hoa Nhon Commune, a road linking Thach Nham Tay Village with Thai Lai Village is flooded and this is the hardest-hit area in the commune.  Currently, hundreds of houses are under water, and the roofs of many others have been blown off. 

Hoa Khuong Dong Village has also been devastated with numerous pig and poultry pens destroyed completely.

Knee-deep floodwaters, fallen trees and broken electricity cables were reported along roads from Tuy Loan Village to the villages of Hoa Phong Commune.  The vegetable growing area in Tuy Loan Tay Village was inundated.
