The northern central provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri are mopping up after storm No 10 moved across them, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.  The severe weather caused extensive damage over the whole area.

Hardest-hit Quang Binh Province reported 3 deaths, 1 person missing, and 12 injuries.  In addition, the storm caused 17 injuries in Quang Tri Province, 3 in Ha Tinh Province and 2 in Thua Thien Hue Province.

According to the latest figures, hundreds of houses in the affected area completely collapsed, whilst hundreds of thousands of others, plus some schools, medical centres and government offices, had their roofs damaged.  Also, nearly 17 hectares of rubber trees were destroyed, and thousands of hectares of vegetables, fruit trees and aquaculture ponds were damaged.

Vietnam Railways said that all national north-south rail services are being delayed due to the many flooded railway stations.  In particular, the Le Trach railway station in Quang Binh Province and the Hoang Mai station in Nghe An Province are flooded to over 1m deep.

At the Da Nang Railway Station, all trains to the northern provinces were cancelled over the last 2 days, but others to the southern provinces operated normally.

On 1 October, flights departing and arriving in Da Nang started operating normally again.
