Strong storm to enter Eastern Sea in two days' time
According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, storm Nari, with gale-force winds of up to 133kph (level 13/14) near its centre, is heading towards the Philippines’ Luzon Island. It is forecast to enter the East Sea early on 13 October.
At 1am today, the storm’s position was at latitude 15°3’N and longitude 125°4’E, about 400km east of the island.
In the next 24 hours, it is expected to move in a westerly or north-westerly direction at a speed of about 20kph.

At 1am tomorrow, 12 October, the storm should be positioned on the western side of the island, at latitude 16°N and longitude 120°6’E. It is predicted to carry wind speeds of between 89 and 117kph (level 12/13).
At 1am on 13 October, its position should be at latitude 15°9’N and longitude 115°8’E, about 400km east-southeast of the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago.
Due to the effects of the storm, from early tomorrow, the eastern parts of the East Sea will experience strong winds at level 9/10 and rough seas.
In addition, a continental high pressure zone is expected to cause light to moderate showers over the weekend in the Da Nang area, and elsewhere in the coastal areas from Thanh Hoa to Quang Ngai provinces.
