20 years of success for SOS Children's Village
The Da Nang SOS Children's Village celebrated its 20th birthday on Wednesday. In attendance were the Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Mr Doan Mau Diep, and the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet.
Vice Chairman Viet praised the remarkable achievements made by the village over the past 20 years. He said that the village has become a trustworthy base for orphans and disadvantaged children in the city.

The city leader said that he would like the village’s employees and teaching staff to further promote their enthusiasm and dedication for taking care of and teaching the village’s children. He promised that the local authorities would create very favourable conditions for the operation of the village. He also took the opportunity to call for more assistance for disadvantaged children to help them become useful citizens.
To date, the SOS Children's village has brought up and educated nearly 400 orphans and disadvantaged children from Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Kon Tum. Two of them are now studying for Master's degrees, 26 are studying at universities, whilst another 22 are at colleges. A further 83 children are now studying at technical secondary schools, and another 54 are at vocational training centres.
Most notably, 100% of the village’s children have been given help to access higher education programmes after their graduation from senior high schools, and they were then able to find suitable jobs.
