Published: December 26, 2013

The Da Nang Newspaper officially launched its Vietnamese online edition in 2008 to deliver the latest news and information on politics, society, the economy, culture, and more from the city, across the country and around the world.  Three years later, our English online version called Danang Today made its debut in early December 2011.

Over the past 5 years, the online edition of the Da Nang Newspaper has proved to be effective and is much appreciated by other news agencies and colleagues nationwide.  During the period, many thousands of news items, articles, photos and video clips featuring local, national and international breaking news have been released via our Vietnamese online edition.  Thanks to the great efforts of the Editors and all our staff, our online news has attracted a large number of readers both at home and abroad.  Our online newspaper is also attractive to local residents, Da Nang citizens living in all regions of the country, and those who are living and studying overseas, along with businesses and anyone who shows a keen interest in our dynamic city.  The number of hits/readers of our Vietnamese online edition reaches over 6 million every year and high numbers have been recorded in the USA, Canada, France, South Korea, and Japan.  We have made every effort to promote the city’s image as a liveable city to readers nationwide and worldwide.  In an attempt to make our online news more interesting and attract more readers, our Vietnamese online edition has seen many improvements and new features.  We have increasingly affirmed its position as a trusted newspaper in the city, and in the country as a whole.

In addition to the Vietnamese online edition, Danang Today is the city’s official and professional English online newspaper and offers useful information for ex-pats living in Da Nang and readers abroad.  It now has 4 translators, and 2 English Editors from the UK.  Our English news meets readers’ demands for learning about local culture, the economy, tourism and the investment climate.  The past 2 years has seen a significant increase in the number of hits to our English online version with about 1 million each year.

The Editors and all the staff at the Da Nang Newspaper will continue their efforts to attract more online readers.  In addition, we will bring the latest news from the city, the country, and the world by using multimedia including audio recordings, videos, photo files and more.

As well as paying attention to improving the quality of the Da Nang Newspaper online, the Editor-in-chief, Mr Mai Duc Loc, has also concentrated on creating a more favourable working environment for his employees.  Therefore, a new building was inaugurated on Thursday afternoon to mark the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Newspaper’s online edition.  The event, at 3pm on Thursday, gave us an opportunity to review the performance of our online news over the past 5 years and to identify the orientations for further development.  We hope that our newspaper will fulfil its assigned tasks of representing the voices of the local authorities and residents through the efforts of the Editors, our professional reporters, and our skilled staff.
