An event entitled “Creative Gifts - Sending Love”, initiated by students from Da Nang’s Dong A University, has been recognised as being a national record in gift wrapping by the Viet Nam Records Organisation.

The event, which was launched in the university on 27 December, saw the participation of around 2,000 students who wrapped 780 gifts in 5 minutes.  The gifts included pens, notebooks, confectionery, soap and hairpins.  An additional 940 gifts were donated by the university’s trade union organisation and its teaching staff, bringing the total to 1,720.

On Sunday, the university’s students and lecturers visited and presented the gifts to local poor and disadvantaged children.  The recipients are either living in the SOS Children's Village, the Village of Hope, the Care Centre for Street Children, the Quang Chau Pagoda, and the Charity House in Hai Chau District, or are receiving medical treatment at the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.
