Students rush to take extra jobs to earn money for Tet
Despite being busy preparing for their semester exams, many of Da Nang’s students are now also busy working part-time to earn extra money for Tet shopping or to pay their next semester tuition fees.
20-year-old Nguyen Dang Dang Khanh, a second year student at the Da Nang University of Economics, is a typical example. Khanh said that she can earn 200,000 VND per night by singing about 5 songs at a coffee shop over the Christmas, New Year and Tet holidays.

Other students can make money from doing odd jobs, including grilling rice papers, making votive papers, and wrapping offerings at local votive paper production facilities.
21-year-old Ha Thi Thom from Duy Tan University said that she receives between 120,000VND and 150,000 VND for working from 8.00am to 11.30am and 1.30pm to 6.00pm each day. Thom added that she can earn several million dong which will help her to cover bus fares to return home to celebrate Tet with her family, and her spending during the festival.
In addition to taking part-time jobs, many local students have become involved in selling such products as clothes, handmade decorative items and jewellery via their Facebook pages.
Around 100 local young people, especially students, were recruited at a job fair held last Friday at the city’s International Exhibition Fair Centre at 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam Street. The majority of job opportunities were in sales, reception, marketing, and security guarding.
