On Thursday morning, the Da Nang Association of Agent Orange (AO) Victims inaugurated the city’s Detoxification and Rehabilitation Centre on Nguyen Van Hue Street in Thanh Khe District.  The Chairman of the Viet Nam Association for AO Victims, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Rinh, along with the Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Phung Tan Viet, attended the event.

The centre, constructed on an area of nearly 300m2 at a cost of over 108,000 USD, was funded by the Harris Freeman Foundation.  There are 2 sauna rooms which can accommodate between 25 and 30 patients, along with a medical laboratory and areas for medial examinations and accommodation for the patients.

The centre will provide dioxin detoxification for victims exposed to AO, as well as for those who want to remove toxins and hazardous chemicals from their bodies.

The patients will be treated to a sauna-based detoxification method in combination with taking vitamins to restore their health.  The toxins are released from their bodies through the respiratory, digestive and urinary systems.
