Captain Dang Van Duc’s fishing boat DNa 90522TS from Da Nang’s Son Tra District suffered a rudder breakdown while fishing at sea at 8pm on Monday. The boat, with its crew of 9, was adrift at latitude 16°57’N and longitude 108°20’E, which is about 49 nautical miles north-east of the Da Nang coast.
After receiving their SOS message, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station asked local and regional search and rescue units, along with fishing vessels which were operating nearby, to help the victims.
According to the city’s Border Guard Command, the boat was towed back to the mainland on Wednesday by DNa 90409TS, which is from the same district. All of the fishermen were safe and in good health.
