About 165 billion VND raised for flood victims
Since it began in March 2009, the Central Region Natural Disaster Mitigation Support Fund has raised about 165 billion VND from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations.
The donated money has been used to build a total of 70 public shelters for use in natural disasters. They consist of 43 schools, 14 medical stations, and 13 community cultural houses, all in the central region provinces. In addition, 86 hectares of protective forest have been planted along coastal areas in Thanh Hoa Province’s Hau Loc District. Sixty commune and village-level rescue teams, with 480 members in total, have been established and equipped with life-saving equipment. Furthermore, more than 10,000 gifts, totalling over 2 billion VND, have been given to regional storm and flood victims.
