First in vitro fertilisation programme in central region and highlands
The Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital will officially launch a modern in vitro fertilisation (IVF) programme in March, which will be the first of its kind in Da Nang and in the central region and highlands as a whole. The programme will be implemented through a technology transfer made by the Tu Du Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.
Under the programme, the Da Nang hospital will use many advanced IVF techniques which have been applied successfully worldwide. They include classical IVF, Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (IVF-ICSI), surgical sperm retrieval for men with an obstruction preventing sperm release, IVF-ICSI treatment with egg freezing, cryo-preservation of embryo, eggs and sperm, frozen embryo transfers, diagnostic testicular biopsies, ultrasound-guided follicular aspiration techniques, and assisted embryo hatching. In addition, a medical ward for male patients will be opened at this hospital.
