Health sector has attracted talented doctors
Over the 2002 – 2012 period, dozens of talented doctors, many with Master’s Degrees and doctorates from outside the city, have been attracted to work at the city’s large hospitals. This seems mainly due to Da Nang’s preferential policies for high-quality human resources.
The Director of the city’s Health Department, Dr Pham Hung Chien, said that, thanks to the great efforts of the local authorities, relevant agencies and hospitals, many advanced techniques have been successfully applied in examinations and treatments. The local hospitals are enjoying a sharp increase in the number of patients. In particular, between 30% and 40% of the total of patients treated at the Da Nang General and Maternity and Paediatrics hospitals come from outside the city.

Currently, the city is attracting more experienced experts who are involved in surgery, interventional cardiology, emergency response and recovery, paediatrics, obstetrics, and neurological, gastrointestinal and orthopaedic treatments. Most notably, some talented doctors at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital have been sent to the Tu Du Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to learn about in vitro fertilisation (IVF). The local hospital’s IVF programme is expected to bring hope to many of those who suffer from infertility.
As for cancer treatment, the city has experienced doctors who are keeping up with those from the larger hospitals elsewhere by learning about new radiation therapies for cancer patients.
Under the city’s High-quality Human Resources Development Project, dozens of doctors who graduated from medical universities with good or fair academic results have been sent for further studies to domestic and overseas educational institutes over the past 5 years.
