National Week of Occupational Safety and Hygiene – Fire and Explosion Prevention
The launch ceremony for the 2014 National Week of Occupational Safety and Hygiene – Fire and Explosion Prevention programme took place in Da Nang on Sunday. The Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, attended.
This year’s programme took “Think and Act for the Target of No Labour Accidents, Occupational Diseases, Fires or Explosions in the Workplace” as its theme. The focus will be on increasing publicity about the programme as well as conducting fire fighting practices and organising contests to learn about labour laws. The city will also honour local businesses and production establishments for their outstanding achievements in ensuring labour safety and effectively implementing hygiene and fire and explosion prevention activities. In addition, local relevant agencies will pay inspection visits to at least 30 local businesses which are at high risk of labour accidents, occupational diseases, and fires and explosions.
Vice Chairman Anh took the opportunity to urge local businesses to get actively involved in this programme through practical and efficient activities. He also stressed the need to encourage local residents, businesses and their employees to comply with the regulations about labour safety and hygiene and fire and explosion prevention, as well as raise their awareness of these matters.
