Patient with cerebral aneurysms saved
Doctors at the Da Nang General Hospital have successfully performed cerebrovascular surgery on 48-year-old Mai Thi Muoi from Son Tra District’s Man Thai Ward. The surgery was carried out with the help of Dr Vu Dang Luu from the Bach Mai Hospital in Ha Noi.
Mrs Muoi had been admitted to the hospital in serious condition due to a stroke, drowsiness and unconsciousness. These symptoms were caused by two fragile cerebral aneurysms which might have ruptured at any time.
Dr Huynh Thanh Vu from the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department said that her health would deteriorate, and she could die if she did not undergo immediate surgery.
Mrs Muoi’s family is poor and the treatment cost is beyond her family’s means. As a result, the Board of Directors of the hospital has raised 120 million VND from generous donors to help her family cover the surgery cost as well as pay for medicines.
