Successful surgical removal of 3 kg tumour
Doctors at the Da Nang Cancer Hospital have successfully carried out surgery to remove of a 3 kg tumour from a 52-year-old man. The patient from Son Tra District had previously undergone 4 operations at hospitals in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, but no improvement had been seen.
According to doctors in the hospital’s Gastroenterology Department, this was a difficult operation. The large retroperitoneal tumour had partly invaded the stomach, pancreas, spleen and other abdominal organs, as well as affected others areas inside the rib-cage. As a result, the patient was suffering from chest tightness, a shortness of breath, and vomiting after eating. In addition, his previous operations had made the tumour adhere much more strongly to some of the abdominal organs. The surgeons found it difficult to perform the surgery because of the above-mentioned points.
