Wanted drug-related criminal arrested
Police officers from the Ngu Hanh Son District Drug-related Crime Investigation Office in Da Nang have just handed over 26-year-old Pham Viet Manh, who is from Ca Mau City, to the Ca Mau Police Department.
In the evening of 4 March, Manh and 2 other drug-addicts were arrested for using drugs at a guesthouse in Ngu Hanh Son District’s My An Ward. During interrogation, the suspect said that his name was Lam Van Chon and that he came from Kien Giang Province’s An Bien District. After careful investigation, the police officers discovered that Manh was wanted nationwide by the Ca Mau Police Department for escaping from prison.
In 2009, Manh was sentenced to 4 years in prison after he had successfully carried out many robberies in his hometown. After serving nearly one year of his sentence, he escaped from prison and went to Ho Chi Minh City on forged personal papers under the name of Lam Van Chon. Manh then came to Da Nang and worked as an employee at a karaoke bar in Ngu Hanh Son District. He is accused of organising illicit drug-use here.
