Under the Transmission and Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Digitisation by 2020 project, 100% of families across the country with televisions will access digital TV broadcasting by late 2020.  Da Nang is one of the 5 cities selected for ending analogue terrestrial broadcasting by late 2015 as the switchover to digital television starts.  The city has been asked to have the terrestrial analogue TV switched off 6 months ahead of schedule as compared with the remaining 4 cities.

As the first step in the process, a Steering Board for Television Broadcasting Digitisation has been established in Da Nang.  The city’s branch of the Viet Nam Television Station (VTV) is expected to be selected as the official transmission unit.  So far, VTV has been broadcasting channels on digital terrestrial television on a trial basis.  According to government regulations, the city will have to provide free digital receiving boxes for local poor and social policy families.
