On Thursday, the Head of the Drug-related Crime Investigation Division of the Da Nang Police Department, Senior Lt Col Nguyen Van Hoa, said that his unit had submitted case files to the municipal People’s Procuracy to prosecute 2 trans-national drug rings. 

These are the biggest trans-national drug trafficking rings ever uncovered in the city.  According to the police, one was conspired by 48-year-old Huynh Van Minh from Quang Binh Province’s Bo Trach District, whilst the other was led by 47-year-old Nguyen Truong Chinh from Quang Nam Province’s Phuoc Son District.  The offenders are charged with illegally trafficking drugs from Laos to Da Nang.

Ahead of the above-mentioned cases, on 1 August 2013, 24-year-old Nguyen Truong Sang from Quang Nam Province’s Bac Tra My District was arrested at 6.30pm on the approach to the southern end of the Hai Van Pass.  He was charged with illegal drug transportation after the local police had found and seized 500 grams of methamphetamine, 8 million VND in cash, and other related items.
