Ways to stop environmental pollution at vacant land lots

According to the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, there are now a total of over 1,500 vacant land lots on several local streets.  These include Tran Hung Dao, An Don, 2 September, Phan Anh, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, Ho Nguyen Trung and Huynh Tan Phat streets.

Despite many strong measures having been taken by local agencies, the problem of environmental pollution at these vacant land lots has yet to be resolved effectively.  There are no fences around the land lots, and they are overgrown with weeds and covered with litter and debris.  Those who live on the above-mentioned streets have been also adversely affected by the sickening stench of litter, especially on hot summer days.

In an effort to deal with the matter, the Department has recently suggested that local authorities should announce details in the media about which owned and unowned vacant land lots are causing environmental pollution.  This should encourage the owners of the land lots to clean up and fence around their land.
